Implant Facilitation

Are you or your relative considering undergoing cochlear implantation? We can assist and advise you on the choices available, and facilitate the process in Tanzania; from pre-operative assessments to the surgery to post- operative support. MED-EL’s versatile portfolio is at our disposable at selecting the right implant and audio processor for you, right up to the latest, Bluetooth compatible SONNET 2 and the 3 Tesla MRI safe Synchrony implant. MED-EL also boasts a selection of atraumatic electrode arrays, the industry’s finest, to preserve inner ear structures during implantation.

Processor Programming

Also known as ‘mapping’, our clinic uses a number of evidence-based methods to obtain a suitable hearing program for implantees. A combination of objective measures such as the electrically-evoked stapedial reflex threshold, eSRT (proudly the only MED-EL clinic in East Africa performing this), the compound action potential (eCAP), and behavioural measures are used to ensure the individual gets the best out of their implant.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

We conduct routine service and maintenance for audio processors, confirming all parts are working appropriately and are in their best conditions for performance and longevity. If, for some reason, something goes wrong with the device, we can determine the nature of the problem and advise on a way forward.
